Pearlly's acting wins short film an award!

In 2008, Pearlly Chua was asked to act in a short film by well-known film director Tsai Ming Liang.

This half-hour film, entitled Madam Butterfly, has just won Best Film in the Fiction category this July at the 17th Curtas Vila Do Conde Festival Internacional De Cinema in Portugal http://curtas.pt/festival/index.php?menu=550

Shot reality-style in Kuala Lumpur’s busy and noisy Pudu bus station, Pearlly played a woman waiting in vain for her lover.

Pearlly’s celluloid debut, under the direction of Tsai in 2006 in the movie, I Don’t Want To Sleep Alone 黑眼圈, garnered Pearlly a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 43rd Golden Horse Film Awards — the Oscars of Taiwan. Internationally-acclaimed director Tsai Ming Liang, is a Malaysian based in Taiwan, and is best known for directing art movies that have won awards at the major film festivals of Venice, Berlin and Cannes.

Pearlly is most famous in Malaysia and Singapore for being the actress in Emily of Emerald Hill, an impactful and greatly entertaining stage monologue. If you thought that monologues were boring, just wait till you get the chance to watch Pearlly perform as the hilarious Emily, a nyonya like Pearlly.

She also trains students in Speech and Drama, and is working on developing a series of live-empowering workshops called MORE OF YOU.

Many of her current students are popular actors, TV hosts and singers in Malaysia. She also trains corporate employees and individuals who want to improve on their voice projection, diction and presentation skills.
